As Kansas City Chiefs fans, Colin and I are anticipating this Sunday much like we do Christmas morning.

And if I’m being honest, the snacks are one of the best parts of any gameday tradition in my humble opinion (lol).

This Sunday, I’m keeping it simple and putting together a Chiefs themed appetizer. I love charcuterie boards for several reasons:

  • They check all the snack preference boxes. Salty? Sweet? Savory? Everyone is happy.

  • They can easily be prepped ahead of time.

  • There is very little involved - no cooking, no baking, no measuring.

  • You can feed as few or as many people as you need!

Are you sold yet? Okay, good. Now let’s get to the essentials.

When I’m choosing cheese, I try to find a mix of soft and hard in variations of strong and mild.

Here’s what I bought:

  • Kerrygold’s Dubliner - Similar to cheddar only it’s much harder and a little sweeter. It may be my most favorite cheese in the world. Sorry for the dramatics, but it’s the truth haha.

  • AmaGorg’s Gorgonzola - A great substitute for those of us (me) who don’t love blue cheese and want a milder option.

  • Hyvee’s Aged Cheddar - I don’t think the cult-favorite needs an explanation lol.

  • President’s Camembert - A very soft and creamy cheese that’s perfect for spreading on crackers (Can’t find camembert? Buy brie. They’re basically the same thing)

  • Castello’s Gouda - Another mild cheese that’s similar to cheddar, but a little softer.

When it comes to meat, I like to cheat (lolz) and buy a variety pack! I bought the Columbus Charcuterie Sampler, and it has calabrese, genoa salami, Italian dry salami, and soppressata. (I could have easily bought these separately!) Sometimes, I’ll just get a good ole fashion summer sausage, but I was feeling ~ fancy ~, so here we are.

For crackers, I keep it simple and just buy what looks good. This is what I bought this time:

  • HyVee Pretzel Rods

  • Vinta Whole Grain Crackers

  • 34 Crisps (I bought the cracked pepper flavor)

For the extras, I have a few staples:

  • HyVee’s Green Olives

  • HyVee’s Black Olives

  • HyVee’s Dried Apricots

  • Green Grapes

  • Bella Maria’s Marcona Almonds (DELICIOUS)

  • Dickinson’s Black Rasberry Preserves

One thing that I added this time that I don’t usually include? A box of super fun Chiefs cookies from Hyvee’s bakery section - I was so impressed by how many options there were! (Was I tempted into eating one on the way home? Maybe. Was it worth it? Absolutely.)

And of course, I bought Chiefs branded napkins and plates (because you know, it’s gameday).

THAT’S IT! I just love a quick and painless grocery trip, and HyVee provides just that.

In the past, I’ve wasted a lot of time running from store to store to get everything I need for my cheese boards, but not with HyVee. They’re a one-stop-shop, and I LOVE THAT. (Not to mention, you can also order from HyVee Aisles Online for a 2-hour pickup order - can it get any easier?) Click here to check out their hassle-free shopping for yourself!

As always, feel free to message me with any questions!
